Gentle december day 1
Good morning! This little comic took a minute. I drew it on paper with a Princess Mononoke gel pen.
I've wanted to do this for a while. One of my favorite teachers from a while back, Sophie Yanow, invented a "Gentle Comics Habit" daily comics practice and I'm going to do it this month. Read about it here: https://www.sophieyanow.com/a-gentle-comics-habit/
Basically I'm going to make a small comic every day this month and post it. I'm also going to post my favorite kids books, one a day. Remember, the links to books go to my affiliate page which you can use to buy any book and I get a cut.
Today, my favorite kids book is Little Fur Family by Margaret Wise Brown and Garth Williams

Margaret Wise Brown is maybe my overall favorite writer. I think Goodnight Moon is the best book every written. Little Fur Family is the one I like the best, however, because it is so very odd. There are great modern printings of this with a furry cover. This edition I'm holding is at my library, printed in the 70's.
When I started reading books to my first daughter as a baby, this was instantly one of my go-tos. When it comes to read-alouds, I quickly learned that the most preferred books were all like this one. Beautiful, spare, poetic writing and art that is pleasant to look at. Fur Family goes the extra mile by including a tremendously strange yet soothing song at the end. No other book I've ever found is as perfectly suited to bedtime.
