Gentle december day 5

Still on this whale kick. One of my favorite christmas mornings, I think I was 6 or 7, my mom had ordered me a whole package of details hard rubber whale figures, basically every species I could think of. I was obsessed. I have no idea where that obsession originated.

My favorite kids book this week is Life After Whale by Lynne Brunelle and Jason Chin

A stunning and accessible pictoral history of what happens in the ocean when a blue whale dies. With incredible illustrations from Caldecott Medalist Jason Chin, this book illuminates the near 250 year journey from a blue whales birth to the magical shifting ecosystem that develops on it's corpse. Fascinating and exciting, one of those works that reminds us how incredible the natural world really is.

Seriously this book is incredible.
